 Striped Bass Lure Page

Welcome to our Stiped Bass Lure page where you will find links to the pages where you can purchase the lures that we have proven to be very successful on Striped Bass. My son Dylan and I love to fish for Stripers. We only fish light tackle. We visit my Mom each year in Chatham and we take her boat out off of Monomy to the rips that hold the fish. We have been fishing them productively since 2006.

Sluggos have been the bait of choice for those who will jig along the rips, but we have found our "Ballyhoo" jig will out produce the Sluggo 2 to 1 (or better) when you have to "Run & Gun". You can pitch the Ballyhoo at least three times as far as a Sluggo which will make all the difference when trying to get your bait into the school of fish. It will also sink faster to get to the bottom where the fish are feeding. This has made "All the difference" for us several times. The guys that fish deeper water have started using the 7.5oz Ribbonfish with great success. Pick up a few of each model of these incredible jigs before you go out again.

Another pair of favorites are the Sure Thing and & Can't Miss. We will troll these slowly along the rips when nothing else is working and we produce! The photos of the fish taken below were on a rip where the only other guy was fishing live eels. He caught one while we caught three in about an hour.

Another bait that has been working well when the fish are feeding on squid are our 11" Shell Squid. If you use a 20lb -30lb test leader and thread through the tip of the squid, and then through two 1.5oz leads that will slide into the head of the squid, and tie on a 6/0 - 8/0 long shank hook, you will have a great bait to jig while drifting across the rips.

One thing we have noticed all too well is that these fish tend not to bite at all during slow moving and slack tides. Plan to take a nap during slack tide if you are out there at that time (we have).

We caught both of these fish in very shallow water on our way out to where we caught larger fish.
