Welcome Tormenter Anglers to our Grouper lure page. Here you will find extremely productive lures for cathching Grouper. Whether you are Jigging for Grouper or Trolling for Grouper, these lures will produce. Below you will see a photo of a World Record Snowy Grouper which was caught on the Tormenter Large Ribbonfish. The top left photo is of a fishing magazine writer's first fish caught on a Tormenter Chubby. The one next to him is showing off a nice Gag caught on a Chubby "Cotton Candy" which is very popular among anglers on the Gulf Coast. The guy with the beard and the "Icicle" hat on is my brother from Alaska who stops in from time to time. His son has taken many large Halibut on our jigs as well. The two with the Grouper caught trolling are me & my son Dylan.

There are many different species of Grouper and many different Grouper habitats. Though Grouper habitats usually share one thing in common, holes or caves of some sort to hide in. But, the Yellowfin Grouper in the deepwater of the Gulf of Mexico is not so lucky and has nowhere to hide living amongst a mud buttom.

Most all Groupers are excellent table fare and the best are probably: Nassau Grouper, Rock Hind (known as Strawberry Grouper), Scamp, and Gag Grouper.

Grouper will normally inhale their prey and will almost never "mouth" a bait. Just let a Grouper turn his head away from you so that the hook will find its way to the corner of the Grouper's mouth when the line comes tight.

Trolling, Jigging, and bait fishing (live or dead) are all productive methods for catching Grouper. I have been told by customers though, when the bite is on, the jigs will oiutperform bait as you will never have to reel up a line to renew a bait when Jigging for Grouper. If (when) you miss a Grouper on bait, you must wind up, hook on a new bait, and re-drop your line.
